Special Events — 2011The highly expected National Reading Group Month Signature Event to be held in Nashville at the Nashville Public Library Downtown on Saturday, October 15 (breakfast, 9-11 a.m.; book-signing, 11-11:30 a.m.) features well-known authors Tayari Jones (Silver Sparrow, Algonquin Books), Ann Patchett (State of Wonder, HarperCollins), and Tom Perrotta (The Leftovers, St. Martin's), as well as debut authors Erin Morgenstern (The Night Circus, Doubleday/RH) and Justin Torres (We the Animals, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt). In a return engagement, Nashville Public Radio WPLN All Things Considered host Nina Cardona will lead the panel-program. For a third year in a row, the "breakfast with authors" is an official part of the Southern Festival of Books, and is co-sponsored by the Nashville Public Library and newly opened Parnassus Books·Nashville.
Special thanks goes to WNBA-Nashville past president and NRGM local coordinator Lee Fairbend (community volunteer) and her NRGM committee members — Pat Ballard (community volunteer, author), Nina Cardona (Nashville Public Radio WPLN), Ginna Foster Cannon, (host, Evening with an Author), Kathleen Dietz (Thomas Nelson), Tamara Ellenberger (community volunteer, writer), Phyllis Frank (community volunteer), Serenity Gerbman (Humanities Tennessee, Southern Festival of Books), Stephanie Koehler (Nashville Public Library), Sheri Schmucker (Studio 29*13), Kathy Schultenover (community volunteer), Joanne Slaughter (community volunteer, freelance editor), and Katie Sulkowski (Nashville Arts Magazine) — for their spirited enthusiasm, vast energy, and constant tenacity.
